So, you never considered yourself a morning person and you're wondering, how can all these people possibly get up early in the morning and go run? Well, today on this episode of Runners High, I'm going to share with you four reasons you should wake up early, get your run done in the morning.

The first reason you get your run done in the morning, early before everything starts, is it actually start your day off on the right foot, you get some endorphins to start the day. Some people really rely on coffee and caffeine or a sugary breakfast or some other external source to help them get going for the day.

You know, being an adult, having a normal day, you're going to be tired sometimes and getting up in the morning, you just feel a little lethargic. Even if you feel that way before you get up and you go run, after you're done running, you’re usually going to feel much, much better. It has to do with those endorphins that get released during that exercise. So, number one reason, get those endorphins flowing, start the day off on the right foot.

My second reason is actually a little more practical, and it's just a matter of fact that your energy levels are going to be a little bit higher in the morning when you wake up than later on in the day.

When you have that higher energy level, you can accomplish more with your run, instead of feeling lethargic later on, which is a little bit opposite of what you would think when you wake up, you know, slumping over, you don't ?? 1:35>, you want to get going the morning.

Well, you actually going to have that feeling if you go after work. So, it’s you know, beneficial for you to wake up early, you know, as early as you need to, to get that run done in the morning so you can take advantage of this higher energy level as you have early on in the day before you expend all that energy on all other kinds of things.

The third reason is it, you haven't had the chance for things to come at you and get in your way for the day. If you let the day go on, there are often things that pop up to try to distract your attention and take you away from what you actually want to be doing. So, if you get up in the morning, early, get it done, you don't have an opportunity for all those things to distract you and get in your way.

Some days, things may be fine, you get done with work, you get home, you go run, but other days, maybe you're at late at work, a project needs to be finished, and you're just not going to get it in now. Or, you know, little Susie needs to be picked up from ballet because your significant other could not pick her up.

Whatever the reason is, there are things that just pop up in life, it's part of being alive, the unexpected happens. So, if you get it done as your first thing in the morning, then you don't have to worry about am I going to get in, am I not going to get in. And that consistency helps you become a better runner.

The fourth reason and one of the biggest reasons you should actually subscribe to this channel to stay tuned for more videos is that you're going to have a sense of accomplishment. Getting something done, it'd be you know, before everything else starts for the rest of the day.

I always had this feeling it's a little bit egotistical, but you know, sometimes you need to embrace a little bit of that to keep yourself motivated, is that you know, when you get up early before everything's even started, before cars are on the street, I always feel like I'm in the matrix and everything hasn’t been programmed yet.

When you get up, you get it done for the day. You get your run in whether you're doing intervals or a long run or whatever it is, you can have this kind of feeling of like, you know, I accomplished more today before everybody else woke up that most people will do all week. And there's some truth to that. Most people don't stay consistent with their running period, let alone get up early to do it.

All these little things like that set you apart heart to accomplish more and have a greater sense of, you know, accomplishment and in some sense, enjoyment or happiness in your life. Because you're completing tasks that you set yourself out to do. Even as a small goal, get up early in the morning and do it. You got up and you got it done so you can check that off for the day, and it’s such a joy that comes along with that.

So as you stay tuned for this far, I actually have one last tip and that's what's happening right now. If it's summertime, you could avoid the heat of the day by getting up early in the morning and going to run. I always recommend to my runners if it's 90 plus degrees out, that's roughly 32 Celsius for you.

If you're hitting the Celsius part of the world, it's not great to run. There's chance of heat stroke, overheating, dehydration, all kinds of issues that come on when you're going to go run later in the day.

So, getting up early, getting it in is more beneficial for you physiologically, then waiting for later in the day when it's hotter and you run the risk of running into issues that come along with that heat.
